Responding to changes in behaviour, enhancing quality of life
Dementia Support Australia (DSA) is an Australian government-funded national partnership led by HammondCare that incorporates Dementia Behaviour Management Advisory Service (DBMAS) and the Severe Behaviour Response Teams (SBRT).
The service brings a diverse range of dementia expertise from across the aged care industry of Australia through a network of offices across the country. DSA consultants provide timely, on-the-ground support, maintaining local knowledge and relationships.
What we do?
Dementia Support Australia (DSA) aims to:
- Improve the quality of life and care for people with dementia and their carers;
- Up-skill, assist and support aged care providers in improving care for people with dementia and related behaviours; and
- Ensure care services for people with dementia are responsive to their individual and diverse needs and circumstances.
- Provide trained consultants to identify cases of aged care residents experiencing 'severe behaviours' and escalate them to SBRT support.
