With a background in psychology, gender and cultural studies, Angie is motivated by a drive to understand people and a passion to serve. Before joining the Dementia Centre, she completed her Masters in Community & Not-for-Profit Management, whilst working on the HammondCare Capital Works Team.

Rumbidzai Tichawangana, Project Officer


Rumbi is a Project Officer supporting a variety of projects within the Dementia Centre. She has a background in Biomedical and Clinical Science and joined the Dementia Centre team in 2016 to be in a role that would allow her to see research translated into everyday practice. She brings with her experience in training as well as academia and industry science research and a great passion to serve.

Nadine Bahr, Project Officer

With a Master’s degree in Health Services and Aged Care Management as well as experience working in a hospital and residential aged care facility, Nadine’s passion has always been in the aged care sector. Whilst working in a dementia unit, she realised the huge potential for improving the quality of dementia care. At the Dementia Centre, Nadine pursues her passion by assisting in the development and delivery of new programs aimed to improve the quality of life for people living with dementia.

Melanie Karakatsanis, Project Officer

BHlthSci, MPH

Melanie has come to the Dementia Centre with a passion for health administration, leading and coordinating projects to support and serve those in need. Melanie has the opportunity to utilize knowledge gained from previous study and work experience in Health and Science. Previously based at Westmead Private Hospital Melanie led the coordination of health clinics across NSW & the ACT. In her role at the Dementia Centre Melanie is involved in a variety of projects, including research which is supported by her completion of a statistics course through ACSPRI and currently working through her Masters of Public Health.

Sofia Rahman, Project Officer


Sofia has a background in health and accounts administration and joined the Dementia Centre in 2016 after completing a Master of Public Health. She is passionate about dementia care and providing support for young carers. Sofia assists with the coordination and implementation of a range of projects including education and training and Dementia Centre events.
